Burning not Burnout
The Urban Culture Institute – City of Weaves in Bielsko-Biała invites artists to a free workshop Burning, Not Burnout focused on preventing professional and creative burnout. The meeting will take place on October 10 as part of the Foto Art. Festival.
Together, we will reflect on the early signs of burnout, discuss prevention strategies, and explore ways of coping with financial, bureaucratic, and social pressures while staying connected to the joy of artistic work. Through discussions, somatic awareness exercises, and experiential peer learning, participants will gain practical tools to combine passion with sustainable growth.
The workshop will be led by Heather O’Donnell, a psychologist, certified systemic art therapist (DGSF), and founding director of TGR The Green Room. Formerly an internationally active concert pianist, she now uses her artistic background to develop innovative approaches at the intersection of mental health, creativity, and intercultural exchange. Her work supports individuals and organizations in navigating recovery, personal development, career transitions, and leadership challenges.
Heather has presented internationally on wellbeing, resilience, and systemic change in the arts, including at the Performing Arts Medicine Association (London, New York), the European Network of Cultural Centres, and On the Move. She has been a guest lecturer at Columbia University, the Lebanese Higher Conservatory of Music, and Rhodes University. Since 2024, she has served on the board of ENCC, working to support sustainable health, growth, and cultural transformation.
The workshop will be held in English.
